Trailblazer “HearSkins” Revolutionizes and Destigmatizes Hearing Aids Through Style and Expression

Toronto, September 20th 2023: Born out of the need to dismantle the prevailing stigma surrounding hearing aids while simultaneously empowering one to “amplify” their identity, HearSkins is much more than a product; it is a mission.

The HearSkins mission is about breaking down stereotypes. It’s about empowerment. It’s about encouraging people to embrace identity – and share it with the world.

Between 30-45 million Americans, approximately 1 in 8, are grappling with hearing loss. Despite hearing aids being a viable solution, a social stigma deters many from wearing them. As a result, only 14% of those who would greatly benefit choose to use hearing aids.

Jen Aslin, Au. D., a practicing audiologist with an entrepreneurial mindset decided to blend her medical expertise with her passion for creating aesthetic products for people with hearing loss in order to tackle this problem. She came to the conclusion that rather than trying to hide hearing aids by making them smaller or concealable, it is much more empowering to turn them into a canvas for expression

Focusing on individuality as it amplifies the wearer’s identity and character, HearSkins offers a simple solution to customize and decorate hearing aids based on individual style choices. The product is a 3-design bundle, each design having 5 pairs of different sizes. HearSkins will launch with 8 different bundles.

The stickers are made of high-quality vinyl which is easily removable, which allows users to customize their devices based on their outfits, seasons, events, etc. The HearSkins team perfected the product by conducting rigorous market research and surveys, collecting feedback data, and then incorporating the feedback into the product.

“As we amplify our activity,” shares Jen Aslin, “we intend to increase distributions of free promotional HearSkins to build brand awareness, and then enable direct sales of HearSkins. We believe that every individual’s journey is unique, and so should be their expression.” Talking about the future plans for HearSkins, she adds “Philanthropy is a powerful approach, and we have embraced it through simultaneously founding the Hearing Hope Foundation – our nonprofit that will advance the destigmatization of hearing aids through additional avenues. HearSkins and the Hearing Hope Foundation will work closely in a combined effort to achieve our overall mission and improve the lives of wearers across the country.

HearSkins products will now be available for purchase at www.HearSkins.com and will be available for worldwide shipping. One sticker bundle retails for CAD45 + taxes.
